Micah Rowland, LPC-S

Meet Micah

From a very young age I was exposed to the incredible work mental health professionals do. Believe it or not, that was the only thing I wanted to be when I grew up, a therapist. I have seen first hand how people from all walks of life can benefit and grow with the help of therapy. I am passionate about helping people adjust, whether that is recovering from traumas or navigating major life transitions. I love helping people understand themselves better. And walking them through finding acceptance and healing in that.

This is my 12th year in the mental health field and my 6th year working private practice. And surprisingly enough, my very first biography! I received my BS in Psychology as well as my MS in Counseling from UCA. In addition to being a therapist I also have the designation of clinical supervisor. That means, I work with licensed associate counselors in a supervisory role while they complete the clinical hours needed for licensure as a professional counselor. I have been blessed to work with incredible therapists throughout my career, in both supervision and practice.

Personally, what I love about therapy is seeing how it helps people grow. I am privileged to be able to walk with people through difficult seasons in their lives. And then I get to see how therapy helps them improve their relationships with themselves and others. I think that initiating therapy is one of the most impressive things someone can do, because it takes both bravery and strength.

I work with clients using various techniques and have been practicing trauma-informed care for over nine years. I primarily use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with clients working through trauma and to help clients with relationship conceptualization/building I use a Person Centered Approach. I have been trained and using EMDR therapy tools for two years and look forward to becoming fully certified.

Fun fact about yourself:

This is my first biography in 12 years in the mental health field, so it’s never too late to do something new!
